Digital Print World will see A B Dick exhibit the new 46 Karat Plus direct imaging press.

Digital Print World will see A B Dick exhibit the new 46 Karat Plus direct imaging press.

The waterless 46 Karat Plus embraces Presstek's new Profire Excel laser imaging technology, which is said to produce improved print quality, in up to 300 lines per inch (lpi) screens with the option for FM screening.

The 46 Karat Plus uses Presstek Pearl Dry chemistry free plates and is designed for quick fire, short run colour up to 7,000 impressions an hour.

Also being showcased for the first time in the UK is the Presstek Dimension 400 Excel platesetter, which also incorporates the improved Profire Excel imaging head, improved quality, up to 300lpi, and faster speed.

The platesetter has a rear plate exit to a wash unit or stacker.

It will be demonstrated as part of a complete workflow, exposing Applause chemistry free, no process plates.

The first UK production model of the Vector TX 52 chemistry free, thermal metal platesetter will also be launched at the show.

The two-up (52cm) CTP system is aimed at small to medium sized commercial printers doing short run, high quality work.

A B Dick said it taps new technology to deliver a low price point while reducing production costs through the use of Freedom thermal, chemistry-free metal, environmentally friendly plates.

Designed and manufactured by A B Dick it achieves an output of 23 plates per hour at low production costs said the company.

The Vector TX52 uses the patented Thindrum and the new Surefire laser technology from Presstek.

The Thindrum design was implemented for the first time in May 2003 with the debut of the DPM34 SC/HSC SRA3 digital platemakers, which are claimed to be the best selling platesetters in the industry.

The Vector TX52 has a small footprint with the plate washer built directly into the device rather than as two separate units.

The Freedom plate is inserted at the front, imaged and water-washed inside the unit before being discharged as a completed plate.

The Freedom thermal metal plate is designed for shorter run lengths up to 25,000 impressions and is priced at near polyester prices.
