AB Dick's Linked Drupa Press And Plate Technology
AB Dick will be highlighting the automation of plate production at Drupa 2004.
The press and the CTP system are by far our biggest investment to date.
We looked at four different suppliers before deciding to buy the Presstek Dimension 200.
We liked the chemistry free concept.
It's important for our business to be as environmentally friendly as possible and we also believe that it is an advantage that will help to bring in new business." And commenting on A B Dick as a supplier, she added: "A B Dick was able to offer us a very good deal buying both the Dimension with the Hamada 252-AI press, which was on the stand at Drupa." McGilvrays is now able to output plates at least 75 per cent faster than before, which makes a big difference to company's throughput.
Henderson continued: "But it's the quality that has made the difference.
Working with first generation plates on a brand new two colour AI press has given us a big improvement in quality.
The plates perform excellently on press and the make ready is extremely quick.
We only need to run a few sheets and we are up to colour and the AI function ensures accurate colour matching.
Should we have any problems, we know that A B Dick is there to support us and give advice." Teresa Henderson has just won the Outstanding Contribution to Fife Business Award 2005, which was organised by the Association of Scottish Business Women.
The awards are aimed at celebrating success and identifying role models that inspire and motivate women across Scotland.
Together with her business partner, George Milne, Henderson has managed the turnaround of McGilvrays, one of Fife's oldest printing companies, since the duo negotiated a management buy-out in 2000.
Her drive and determination has enabled the company to overcome the odds of a declining market where closure is commonplace to achieve a 40 per cent growth in turnover with continued year on year profits.
