The redesigned Presstek Dimension 450 chemistry free platesetter, which incorporates the new improved Profire Excel imaging head, is claimed to be capable of producing up to 300 lines per inch (lpi) and stochastic screens.
The machine will be exhibited exposing the Applause chemistry-free, no process plate.
The four-page platemaking system, with claimed plate production of up to 17 plates an hour, features automated plate pre-staging and a larger image size than previous models to allow for 750 size press formats.

Producing up to 14,000 A4 sheets an hour and with a complete imaging and make ready time of 10 minutes per job, the 46 Karat Plus fills the gap between the toner and traditional offset markets, said A B Dick.
It takes advantage of Presstek's next generation Profire Excel imaging heads.

That is claimed to take takes image quality to a new level not seen before in the commercial print market.
Multibeam lasers provide simultaneous imaging in 4.5 minutes of all four plates at 2,540 dots pere inch (dpi), claimed A B Dick.
It features fully automatic media advance, a fully automated washing system and infra red dryer in the paper delivery.
The DI press, which is said to be environmentally-friendly, uses Presstek's Profire Digital Media, which are imaged and processed without chemicals, saving on the cost and disposal of chemistry.
With its automation, claimed consistent quality, compact design and operator convenience, the 46 Karat Plus will appeal to organisations with a demand for high quality short run colour print, as well as the traditional offset printer, who cannot compete successfully for short run work using large format presses, added A B Dick.
