Software Automatically Splits Sheets

Print and Display, a Warsaw (Poland) printing house, has invested in new equipment and software systems, with a large format MAN Roland 900 XXL press now installed.
After that, the company purchased a Magnus VLF CTP system from Creo, controlled by Prinergy Evo workflow.
The latest investment is the Puzzleflow Basic system and Imposition Pack software, both produced by the Polish company ACC HSH Group.
Print and Display was established in 1994 and is currently one of the biggest players in the large format poster printing market in Poland.
For many years the company has used offset and screen printing presses as well as traditional pre-press equipment.
In 2004 the screen printing technology was replaced by digital printing and a new offset press was installed at the beginning of 2005.
The company's operating manager, Slawomir Koslickiat, said: "After these investments our next natural move was buying a CTP system.
The Magnus VLF from Creo was bundled with the Prinergy Evo workflow and after a few weeks our managers bought the next software from ACC HSH Group.
They were Puzzleflow Basic workflow and Imposition Pack package, containing Imposition, BoxImposer, Tiler, Autocrop and Two Side Preview modules as well as processing Job Tickets.
We needed a tool that allows us to fully and automatically split sheets in to standardised number of smaller pages." Slawomir Koslicki commented: "Until that time we had to split image in to a few smaller sheets and process every sheet as a separate job.
Puzzleflow allowed us to incorporate simple and automatic functions of splitting every sheet in to parts (except one-sheet jobs, of course)." After verifying, splitting and saving the job as a PDF file, imposition is made in the Preps software package.
At that stage plate size, paper size and another pre-settings used in printing and the post-press part of production are set.
After that PJTF files are produced, pre-settings of the press are sent to the system (via the CIP3 module) and a complete job is sent to the CTP system.
Koslicki underlined the important aspect of installation made by ACC HSH Group: "We appreciated that the Puzzleflow workflow could be easily incorporated in to our existing Prinergy Evo system." Marek Pultorak, the general manager of Creo Poland, said: "Print and Display is a very good example of a successful cooperation of two well-constructed, PDF-based workflow systems.
The functions that have been achieved has helped in solving very specific problems for the customer and it all works without any system disturbances, meaning that both vendors did a very good job." Andrzej Czyz, a partner in ACC HSH Group added: "The Puzzleflow system with the imposition package, including the Tiler module, is a dedicated package for printing houses specialising in billboard and poster production.
We are very happy that our software has been chosen by the biggest player in the large format poster printing market in Poland." Besides the modules mentioned above, Print and Display also uses another ACC HSH supplied system - the Normaliser, which converts incoming PS, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, DCS files in to PDF format and verifies file settings).
The Recombiner recombines separated PDF documents in to composite jobs.
and, spot colour separations can be selectively recombined as spot colours or merged to CMYK components, whilst Pageorienter changes page orientation and Pageselector, which automatically changes the page order, selection, print sequence and number of copies in an incoming job.
All of the modules are parts of the Puzzleflow system.
