Adare says postal charges are not a
problem
Leading corporate and marketing communications provider Adare comments on the changes to Royal Mail's postage pricing which came into effect on 21 August, 2006.
Traditionally, the cost of postage has been calculated on the weight of an item Now, pricing in proportion will mean that size, as well as weight, is used to calculate postage costs

Do Printer's Environmental Claims Stand Scrutiny?
Are printer's environmentally-friendly credentials worth the paper they're printed on?
"As it stands, for businesses sending out normal everyday business mail, then it's difficult to make any changes to the format you send mail out in (other than folding down from an A4 to fit a C5 envelope)".
"But for those sending out volumes of the same size mailpack, as with direct mail, then it presents a good opportunity to amend the pack to fit the 'Letter' option and gain cost advantages in doing so".
"Some of our clients have already seized the initiative and we have worked with them to amend their artwork and formats to maximise the cost saving opportunities".
"For example, STL Limited (Send the Light) - Europe's leading supplier of English language Christian books - decided at the beginning of the year to resize its mailpack from A4 down to the 260 x 165 format to suit the standard letter".
"We kept them up to date with developments as Royal Mail issued them, and then introduced the changes to the mailpack to suit".
"Consequently, the mailer they will send out as from now will save them a significant amount of money".
"There are bound to be countless further opportunities that show how August 21 can work for businesses rather than against them if the initiative is seized now".
"Every year Adare produces a vast number of direct mail packs for various blue chip clients".
"In the run up to the PiP changes, our clients have been considering how they can not only reduce their pack sizes from C4 to DL and C5, but also how they can take advantage of the increased weight allowance to add extra inserts".
"This creates a market for third party agreements between companies to allow other firms to include 'inserts' in their mailings, potentially opening up an era of co-operation across businesses or charities targeting the same sector".
"Adare will be looking to exploit the maximum benefit from the PiP changes for all our clients and we would strongly advise any business who deals in DM to look for the opportunities not the threat that PiP can bring.".
