Better Plots From Data Visualisation's
New Version

Adept Scientific is now supplying Tecplot 10 Release 3, which is claimed to be the most powerful version yet of the data visualisation and technical plotting software from Tecplot.

Adept Scientific is now supplying Tecplot 10 Release 3, which is claimed to be the most powerful version yet of the data visualisation and technical plotting software from Tecplot Tecplot is the company's flagship data visualisation product

It is technical plotting software with XY, 2D and 3D capabilities for visualising data from analyses and simulations.

Tecplot 10 includes new capabilities in three areas - plotting tools, data management and the user interface.

The enhancements help give Tecplot 10 users complete control to explore, analyse and communicate their results, said Adept Scientific.

In the company's opinion, that flexibility is the key differentiator between Tecplot 10 and competing data visualisation products, which restrict or limit the options users have to create the exact plot that they want.

Adept said that the most significant new feature of Tecplot 10 Release 3 is 64-bit support so that the product can now take advantage of the 64-bit operating systems from Hewlett-Packard, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, and Linux.

The main performance-related benefit of 64-bit computing is the ability to access more physical memory.

Users running Tecplot on 64-bit systems will be able to load files that previously exceeded the four gigabyte limit of 32-bit processors, added Adept.

Other new features of Tecplot 10 Release 3 include enhancements to the Add-on Developer's Kit (ADK) and the Tecplot GUI Builder (TGB) as well as new data loaders for loading Hierarchical Data Format 5 (HDF5) and CFD General Notation System (CGNS) data files.

The ADK is a set of documentation, tools and utilities that assist developers in the creation of Tecplot add-ons.

The TGB is a tool for generating platform-independent graphical user interface (GUI) code.

Users now have the ability to modify the entire menu system and replace the Tecplot sidebar.

Also new is support for bitmapped buttons in the TGB and enhanced development tools.

Together, Adept believes that the new options give application developers full control to implement the functions and user interface they desire.

Mike Peery, president and chief executive officer of Tecplot Inc, said: "The goal of this release, as with all of our releases, is to continue to provide our users with value-added improvements.

In the case of the new 64-bit support, we felt it was imperative that Tecplot takes advantage of the 64-bit operating systems because our customers continue increase the amount of data they are analysing." As for the other new features, each was made to increase the productivity of Tecplot users, Peery added.

Tecplot 10 Release 3 is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and most UNIX workstations. Request a free brochure from Adept Scientific ...
