Quick Printers Turn To Discounted DTP Outsourcing

An Affinity Express product story

To provide solutions for quick printers looking to offer comprehensive document services to their customers, Print Image International has contracted Affinity Express to provide desktop publishing.

To provide solutions for quick printers looking to offer comprehensive document services to their customers, Print Image International has contracted Affinity Express to provide desktop publishing services at a special rate to Print Image's 1,000 members.

According to Affinity Express, it is typical that printers who create documents from scratch charge their customers on an hourly rate.

In other cases, when files supplied by customers are not truly print-ready, printers are forced to make adjustments after projects have already been quoted.

As a result, pricing for design work is inconsistent or the service is given away, resulting in financial losses for pre-press departments.

By teaming up with Affinity Express, Print Image members can give customers a single resource for all their document production needs, along with high quality, fast turn times, cost savings and flat rates for design projects.

For printers, the relationship is an opportunity to sell desktop publishing as a stand-alone service and gain scalable capacity for seasonal demands, without investing in additional technology, facilities or personnel said Affinity Express.

According to Steven D Johnson, president chief executive officer of Print Image: "Since our organisation was founded, Print Image's mission has been to empower members through education and services to improve the profitability of their businesses.

We believe the relationship with Affinity Express will not only help printers overcome the challenges of managing design services internally, but will provide a competitive advantage.

Engaging the customer at the point when documents are created, means our members will be more likely to capture both desktop publishing and print revenue from a greater share of their customers." Affinity Express chief executive officer James Daleen commented: "We are excited about this relationship with Print Image because we see it as an opportunity to fill a market need.

In the quick print business, desktop publishing is often a loss leader, as many printers give the service away and undermine the profits of the pressroom.

By introducing reliable quality, standard product pricing and consistency, Print Image members can promote desktop publishing services, increase customer satisfaction and prevent work from migrating to other printers.".
