Agfa has launched an Apogee proofing converter in the U.K.

Agfa has launched an Apogee proofing converter in the U.K.

to introduce the ease of use needed for converting the multitude of TIFF and Brisque workflows, it claimed.

The company believes it is essential to deliver affordable proofing connectivity to other kinds of workflows to provide accurate and consistent standards of digital colour proofing quality, at a realistic cost.

The Apogee proofing converter is the low-resolution variant of the Apogee power converter, with the same capabilities, although it is limited in output resolution to 1,440 dpi said Agfa.

It integrates into Scitex and 1-bit TIFF based workflows and with open access, Agfa can also provide integration with Heidelberg Delta and Harlequin workflows, for direct drive of the automatic dual-sided Sherpa proofer.

The Apogee proofer is the main converter for TIFF and Scitex workflows, and has a level of performance and ease of use that is second to none, claim Agfa.

They add that it will easily convert graphics files (bitmaps) into postscript or PDF files for integration into Apogee based digital colour proofing systems.

It down-samples and de-screens proprietary format files before converting them to a postscript or PDF file which is proofed through the PDF RIP on the Sherpa.

Agfa's proofing product manager Dave Varty said: "Early users have already confirmed that Apogee is an extremely powerful tool which makes the total workflow process both easy and productive.'.
