500 Metres-A-Minute Slitter Rewinder Goes On Show

An Ashe Converting Equipment product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 9, 2007

Operating at a claimed 500 metres per minute, Ashe Converting Equipment's new Diamond slitter rewinder will be unveiled on stand B54 in hall 3 at the K2007 exhibition.

According to Ashe, converters need to obtain maximum profit, not only from their machines, but also from the space available in their plant.

Claimed to be ergonomically designed and with a small footprint, the new Diamond slitter rewinder is configured for ease of installation and ease of use, incorporating all components and all controls in a single, one-piece unit.

The Diamond is provided with a shaftless unwind with integral reel lift and the machine is all-electric.

Designed to operate at claimed speeds of up to 500 metres per minute, the Diamond can accommodate unwind diameter reels of 1,000mm and rewind diameters of 600mm.

According to the company, the new machine's slitting possibilities include wrap and tangential, accomplished via a Sapphire-type dovetail mounted razor and rotary shear slitting system.

A swing-out female knife bar provides for slit width changes.

Additional features include flange mounted interchangeable rewind shafts and a pneumatic lay-on system.

A two-motor, or three-motor drive system is available.

Ashe Converting Equipment's chief engineer, Keith Fordham, said that the Diamond is positioned between the company's Onyx entry-level slitter and the Sapphire S2.

An example of an Onyx and Sapphire S2 will also be shown along with the Diamond at K2007.

Fordham said that the Diamond slitter rewinder will employ a vacuum 'hug drum' as the main pull roller in place of nip (used on the Sapphire S2), thus giving full tension isolation between unwind and rewind.

The Diamond will be available in standard widths of 1,100mm, 1,300mm and 1,650mm.

He added: " The addition of the Diamond to our product line-up enables Ashe to meet the budgetary and processing requirements of all types of customers anywhere in the world.".
