Accelerating finishing by 20 per cent, North London (UK) firm Ace Graphics' second KAS bookletmaker in three years is helping to fulfil growing demand.

The KASfold 3000 bookletmaker with on-line trimmer was installed by Ashgate Automation, enabling the finishing of 200 brochures in two thirds of the normal time experienced by Ace Graphics.

Ace Graphics, which is run by brothers Steve and Dave Holyland, is said to have a reputation in its local area for fast turn-around, high quality, short to medium run digital printing.

The company also works in conjunction with a local litho printer, offering a range of services to customers from concept to finishing.

Steve Holyland explained: "We've built up a range of skills over 25 years in the industry to suit all our customers' needs.

Although we are small, we provide a personal service and the latest digital technology." He added: "On the finishing side, our requirement for bookletmaking was growing and we wanted to upgrade the original machine to one which used flat clenched staples and was supplied with an on-line trimmer.

Previously we had to take the booklets off the machine and trim them separately on the guillotine.

We had no hesitation in buying another KAS machine because it is versatile and handles all the stock we put through it.

Its size and performance are ideal for our type of business where some weeks we have several bookletmaking jobs and other weeks, none at all.

We also get a much more professional finish using flat staples.".
