Persoline is a new system for the full-colour personalisation printing of premium cards that is claimed to be able to be configured in different ways to suit a variety of markets and applications.

Atlantic Zeiser said that Persoline addresses the demand for a full-colour card personalisation machine that can handle large volumes at lower costs, compared to current thermal transfer, or dye sublimation technologies, whilst achieving higher productivity The claimed processing speed of up to 6,000 personalised cards per hour in four-colour printing, or 8,000 cards per hour in spot colour personalisation, is said to provide a strong performance to price ratio

The Persoline also excels as a single card artwork printing system for cost-effectively producing small batches, added the company.

Also said to be easily upgraded, the Persoline can be expanded as needed to meet new production requirements and ensure a long-term return on investment.

Atlantic Zeiser said that the system achieves savings in consumables - typically 80 per cent - 90 per cent less compared to dye sublimation - manpower and time.

The new design facilitates system operation from both sides of the machine, making it possible for one operator to handle two machines, whilst lowering personnel costs.

The .NET-based layout software is also said to ensures intuitive operation.

Additional cost advantages can be achieved, together with higher throughput, because of CoolShield, Atlantic Zeiser's patent pending security lamination process based on inkjet using UV activated glue.

In addition, Persoline's design supports the processing of high gloss cards by preventing scratching of the sensitive card surfaces.

Dr Hans Wyssmann, marketing vice presient at Atlantic Zeiser, commented: "Our customers can benefit from Persoline's ability to be expanded and the freedom to configure the system as needed, as well as the user-friendly operation.

Nevertheless, what our customers will certainly like the most is the new system's high productivity combined with its strikingly low operating costs." And Oliver Mehler, managing director of Atlantic Zeiser, added: "Persoline is a flexible system for providing full-colour personalisation for government identity cards, access cards, driving licenses, or health care cards, for instance.

It has the dual capability to handle full-colour and artwork printing, either with or without personalisation.

Persoline also offers an exceptionally cost-effective way to fulfill full-colour artwork print-on-demand for small and medium batch sizes, starting with blank cards." According to Mehler, the system will be able to be upgraded to a fully-modular smart card personalisation system for virtually any chip card application, such as identity cards, SIM cards and financial cards - both contact and contactless.

Other modules to be introduced will include grayscale laser personalisation.
