New Digitla Printing Systems From Atlantic Zeisser

An Atlantic Zeiser product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team May 30, 2008

Atlantic Zeiser is highlighting new systems at Drupa 2008, the Omega 210 digital inkjet printer, Flexojet 600 modular UV printing system and Braillejet digital print system for Braille printing.

The new systems, along with Atlantic Zeiser's range of system integration products, are on Atlantic Zeisser's stand - stand C56 in hall 11.

The Omega 210 digital inkjet printer, which is claimed to print at 360 dots per inch (dpi) is the latest extension to Atlantic Zeiser's Omega range.

It is said to provide an efficient and economical option for single pass inkjet printing of wide print jobs up to A4 size.

Described as lightweight and compact, the Omega 210 is a machine powerhouse that is claimed to integrate in to most existing operations.

Atlantic Zeiser said the system combines the reliability of the company's Omega line with their high contrast inks for claimed crisp print quality, with no visible stitching lines for seamless printing across the printhead.

The single head design supports uninterrupted printing across 210mm width with black as well as spot colour inks.

The Flexojet 600 is claimed to provide flexibility, near flexo print quality and reliability of thermal inkjet production on almost any material, for a variety of applications.

The scalable system is based on drop-on-demand HP TIJ 2.5 technology and can be customised, as required, with curing systems and a controller platform.

Offering flexibility for a customer's specific requirements, it can be configured as a single pen system or a multiple imager stitched system with such features as camera verification.

Atlantic Zeisser added that the 38.1mm fully-modular design allows Flexojet to be stitched on mounting platforms for wide format printing, the imaging of variable and fixed text, bar code symbols and bitmaps, with stitching across all pens.

Flexojet is also said to provide 600dpi x 600dpi resolution at 42 metres per minute using the company's UV curing inks, together with and optional resolutions and potential speeds of up to 300 metres per minute using water based inks.

The in-house developed UV inks produce print quality and contrast, making them appropriate for high resolution bar codes on any substrate media.

Over 80 bar codes (single dimension and two dimensional) are supported, with control over ratio, bar widths and other criteria.

Braillejet is said by Atlantic Zeisser to provide an accurate system for the personalisation and encoding needs of the packaging industry and pharmaceutical market.

New micro valves enable Braille fonts to be printed using UV curable high-viscosity ink to achieve immediate fixation of the dots.

The result is optimum readability and dot clarity.

In addition, the Braillejet is said to provide cost-effectiveness and flexibility with the advantage of printing variable data.

According to Atlantic Zeisser, the set-up costs associated with silk-screen printing, or embossing are eliminated with the new system.

Braillejet makes it possible to switch from one job to another and one printhead prints two Braille lines simultaneously with the print width increased by seamless stitching of additional heads.

During Drupa Atlantic Zeiser product range for variable data printing and late stage product customisation on carton, labels and on flexible packaging materials such as foils, PET or aluminium, are being demonstrated.

Oliver Mehler, Atlantic Zeiser's chief executive officer, commented: "These new products directly respond to our customers' needs for variable data printing systems that provide the flexibility of digital technologies combined with the quality perception and cost-effectiveness of analogue printing.

That is especially so when it comes to the printing on non-absorbing substrates, such as coated papers, plastics and metal surfaces.

All of our printers can be easily combined with our line of camera systems to ensure 100 per cent quality control.".
