Autotype International will be presenting a seminar at the FESPA exhibition outlining the proposed changes to the EU Chemicals Policy.

Dr Sem Seaborne, chairman of the ESMA HSEPC and head of regulatory affairs at Autotype International and Ralph Roschlau, (an ESMA board member), will be presenting a seminar at the FESPA exhibition outlining the proposed changes to the EU Chemicals Policy The seminar will take place in the Seminar Theatre in Hall B1 at FESPA on June 1 at 3:00 pm and will focus on the potentially far reaching consequences of the proposed REACH regulations to the European screen printing industry

In Autotype's opinion, although the introduction of new chemicals destined for Europe undergo strict safety assessments, the majority of existing chemicals have not been subject to any demanding form of safety evaluation.

The REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) regulations, proposed by the European Commission, will require all chemicals to be registered, meaning that any existing data will be assessed and manufacturers will be required to carry out testing programmes to acquire any missing information.

As part of the seminar, Dr Seaborne will look at the issues surrounding the new system and how it is likely to affect the European screen printing industry, both in terms of the cost of implementing such a registration and testing procedure and how it may affect competition between EU and non-EU countries.

The proposed costly administration potentially threatens the availability of many critical chemicals in the screen print supply chain, he commented.

The seminar will be presented in both English and German, simultaneously. Request free introductory details about products from MacDermid Autotype ...
