New Inkjet Printable Film For Graphics Displays
MacDermid Autotype has launched a new version of its Sigmagraf inkjet printable film, for use in graphics displays, point of sale and floor graphics.
MacDermid Autotype has launched a new version of its Sigmagraf inkjet printable film, for use in graphics displays, point of sale and floor graphics.
Called Sigmagraf UVjet AM, the new film is said to offer a combination of properties, with an anti-graffiti surface and stable ink primer layer giving colour rendition and image resolution.
Sigmagraf UVjet AM incorporates Microban anti-microbial technology, which inhibits the growth of bacteria, mould and mildew, making the new film suitable for use in applications including walls, doors and other surfaces in hospitals and medical centres, leisure clubs, restaurants, cruise ships and even caravans, added the company.
Sigmagraf UVjet AM is constructed from a dimensionally stable, textured polyester base layer, on to which a specially formulated, UV-cured hardcoat surface is chemically bonded, said MacDermid Autotype.
The Microban technology is embedded evenly within the hardcoat structure, so that its anti-microbial properties last for the working life of the film and enable the material to be used in areas where protection is required from bacteria that include methicillin resistant staphylococcus aurous (MRSA), E-coli 0157, listeria monocytogenes and salmonella spp.
The reverse of the new film is primed for use with all UV cured digital inks, with the primer being designed so that it maintains ink adhesion, without delaminating or cracking even if the film flexes or is used under particularly arduous environmental conditions, of high temperature or humidity, said the company.
In addition, Sigmagraf UVjet AM is claimed to offer light transmission and provide resistance to graffiti, with the scratch and abrasion resistant hardcoat being suitable for cleaning using conventional detergents or solvents, whilst for floor graphics the film incorporates an anti-slip surface.
It is claimed that Sigmagraf UVjet AM can also be laminated to a variety of substrates, for example, using MacDermid Autotype's Backstop white opaque backing films for graphic displays and pop-ups, semi-permanent adhesives for floor graphics, or permanent adhesives for signs or decorative surfaces.
