Graphics Films Provide Colour Rendition, Clarity
High levels of print definition, colour rendition and optical clarity are being achieved using the latest floor and display graphics film materials from MacDermid Autotype.
UK company Apollo Imaging is using a range of floor graphics in a range of demanding applications, where MacDermid Autotype's films are also providing the ability to guarantee consistent and repeatable quality.
The majority of the Apollo Imaging's work is for floor graphics used by retailers, stores and theatres, as well as displays for permanent and temporary exhibitions, events and shows, largely for local businesses.
In the past, Apollo Imaging has experimented with materials from a variety of suppliers.
But as director Paul Venn explained: "These were never perfect.
For example, we tried vinyl films with anti-slip coatings for floor graphics, but found that they either wouldn't adhere correctly or, when lifted, left behind a residue.
Similarly, we have used a number of suppliers for display graphics but found that materials were of variable quality, failed to produce a sufficiently high level of definition or quickly discoloured." By comparison, the Sigmagraf and Footprint display and floor graphics films from MacDermid Autotype have been developed to be easy to handle, print, apply and, where required, reposition or remove, said the company.
Additionally they are claimed to offer superior mechanical and optical characteristics, with a hardcoat that provides protection against physical damage and abrasion, plus a range of solvents and cleaning chemicals.
MacDermid Autotype added that the hardcoat is also formulated to reduce reflection and glare and, in the case of Sigmagraf, can be supplied with anti-microbial properties making the material suitable for use in medical and healthcare applications.
Paul Venn added that the company's success is due to a focus on quality, customer service and competitive prices, backed by a commitment always to deliver on time.
He explained: "We have never missed a delivery, or had a job returned because it failed to meet the required standard.
In addition, we specialise in high definition, almost photographic quality, floor and display graphics and use only the latest and most advanced printers and production equipment.
A vital part of this process is our choice of floor and display graphics films." He continued: "The MacDermid Autotype film materials have helped us win a lot of business that we would otherwise have lost.
In particular, the fact that we know when using these film materials that there will be no wastage or rejects, with every print being identical to the last, means that we can often bid for work with short lead-times and can guarantee our deliveries.
Ultimately, we use products such as Sigmagraf because they are the best available, in terms of quality, mechanical and optical performance, and technical support." Founded in 1990 in Lincolnshire as a photographic and film processing laboratory, Apollo Imaging has expanded and diversified.
Eight years ago, the company was one of the first in the region to move in to large format inkjet printing and today that has grown to become a major part of Apollo Imaging's business.
