Indirect Film For Screens Needs No Hardening

A MacDermid Autotype product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team May 9, 2008

Autotype Novaplus, a photo-polymer based indirect film that is claimed not to need chemical hardening or warm water washout has been launched by MacDermid Autotype.

According to the company, indirect stencil films are still the quickest and one of the easiest ways to produce a high quality screen.

Not only are they quick to process but indirect films offer benefits for high quality, small format to medium format applications, such as prototyping and business cards, for example.

MacDermid Autotype said that Autotype Novaplus is exposed, washed in cold water and then adhered to the mesh.

The company claimed that Autotype Novaplus can be used with most solvent-based and UV curable inks and will give a high quality print from medium to fine mesh counts.

The screens are suitable for run lengths of up to 1,000 impressions and after printing, the stencil can be de-coated using a conventional periodate emulsion stripper.
