Autobond has developed a new range of laminating equipment, including thermal and water-based systems.
The Sheetmaster 76E sheet-fed film laminator has followed a period of what Autobond described as intensive research and development at its Derbyshire (UK) factory.
The claimed flexibility of the new encapsulator is demonstrated well by its ability to handle stock from A5 up to B1, in weights from 80gsm - 650gsm and at speeds of 60 metres per minute, said Autobond.
Autobond managing director John Gilmore said: "The top speed of the Sheetmaster 76E equates to 14,000 A4 sheets an hour, which is a phenomenal output for an encapsulator.

Autobond has launched a manual-fed version of its landscape Sheetmaster.
The machine has been designed to be easy to use and very precise during operation.
For example, the in-feed and cross cutter are both servo driven for accuracy, whilst there are air coolers and water chilled rollers to maintain constant temperatures." He added: "We've incorporated side slitters with an edge waste removal system that automatically takes away waste strips, via a 100mm extraction pipe, to a container outside of the printing plant.
This ensures there is no untidy waste paper around the working area of the machine." Other features include a servo driven sheet correctional device that is said to guarantee a precise gap between each sheet, which means that only a single cut is required by the cutter to separate work.
Gilmore continued: "The gap can be altered very accurately and, if it is set at 5mm, it will remain exactly at 5mm unless changed by the operator." The new Sheetmaster 76E can apply polyester, polypropylene and nylon films in 75, 125 and 200 micron thicknesses.
The machine incorporates a Heidelberg Speedmaster 52 feed head that enables a range of paper types to be fed at high speed.
The Heidelberg feed head transfers sheets on to the inclined feed table belt frame with great accuracy.
The feed head is processor controlled, and receives continuous job data from a sophisticated encoder, said Autobond.
The Sheetmaster 76E incorporates 300mm pre-heat rollers situated prior to the nip rollers, with the temperature controlled by a 24Kw Swiss water heater.
Sheet delivery can be to a table in shingle form or in to a jogger.
John Gilmore commented: "There is a huge demand for encapsulating and we anticipate that the new Sheetmaster 76E will become a major selling product for us.
All our trials and tests on the encapsulator towards the end of last year proved to be extremely positive so we're very excited by this launch." The cost of the new model will be around GBP120,000 said Autobond and customers ordering the encapsulator can expect delivery within four months.
