MIS Automates High Volume Repro In Six Minutes
The installation of an Odystar system at the print management division of Oce Business Services has transformed the way in which the company handles print on behalf of its clients.
Nexus is said to be a high-end workflow for commercial and packaging operations that is designed to increase productivity in pre-production through automation of labour-intensive pre-press tasks.
Nexus is a modular system built on three core modules - Nexusimport, Nexusprocessor and NexusRIP - that are claimed to allow users to configure the system for their own functions, throughput and performance needs.
The Nexus configuration at Sandy Alexander drives an array of output devices, including two Creo Trendsetter CTP engines, three halftone dot proofers comprised of a Kodak Approval NX and two Fuji Finalproofs, as well as numerous inkjet proofers including the Iris 43 Wide and the Creo Veris proofer.

In addition to the Nexus workflow, the installation at Sandy Alexander also includes Webway, which provides a web-based pre-flight and job submission portal for the company's customers.
Nexus is also integrated with Kodak's Matchprint Virtual Proof system so that Sandy Alexander's customers can softproof and approve their jobs on a desktop monitor with full colour accuracy.
The combination of Webway, Nexus and Matchprint Virtual Proof provides a fully automated system for Sandy Alexander and its customers that offers savings in cycle time and productivity, said Artwork Systems.
Mike Graff, Sandy Alexander's executive vice president, said: "Artwork Systems' flexible approach to workflow is evident in the Nexus system.
This workflow has been custom-engineered to meet our specific needs and has integrated seamlessly with our existing tools for job ticketing, data management and soft proofing.
The workflow requirements to support our large web and sheetfed pressroom are extremely demanding, especially in the areas of screening and colour management, but Artwork Systems has partnered with us to deliver exactly the system we needed.
We believe its workflow is the best on the market." Dennis Mehta, Artwork Systems' president and chief executive officer, added: "Sandy Alexander is nationally known and respected, not just for its size but for its high level of quality and customer focus, so we are honoured that the company chose Nexus for its demanding production workflow.
Sandy Alexander is a first-class organisation that will show Artwork Systems to its greatest advantage.
We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with the company as a workflow supplier.".
