Financial Implications Of Freedom Of Information
The Information Commission has given its first indication of how it will deal with the Freedom of Information Act and requests for information after it was asked to adjudicate in a case.
She said that carton manufacturers needed to be more innovative and less insular looking if they were to promote their packaging in an increasingly competitive marketing industry.
The event began with Keith Gilchrist, chief executive officer of Chesapeake Field Group plc and Dr Andreas Blaschke, chief executive officer of MM Packaging Europe, going head-to-head in a debate on the relative merits of running a global operation from either the UK or from Europe.
A range of factors were considered including the differing working practices, local legislation, social costs, pay and statutory leave across the UK, Eire, Belgium, Germany, France and Spain.
The conference was supported by 20 suppliers to the industry, both large and small companies, who held a tabletop exhibition throughout the day to show their products to current and potential customers.
The event was staged at the De Vere Belfry Hotel near Birmingham (UK) and was supported by Pro Carton.
