Beacon Press has printed the Complete Pictures of Gilbert and George, which has been published to coincide with the largest ever exhibition of the two artists at London's Tate Modern Galler.
Beacon is only the third UK printer to join Business in the Community and the first one in London and the south east of England.
The company said that for the last 15 years, it has shown continued sector leadership in sustainable practice by taking measures to minimise its impact on the environment in everything from printing and ink technology to recycling and energy management.
As well as printing responsibly, Beacon added that it has reduced its economic unit cost of production, whilst at the same time achieving industry wide recognition with numerous quality awards.
Good environmental practice in the factory is not where responsibility stops and part of the company's policies is to share the knowledge it gains in its search for a better way to manufacture print with other parts of the supply chain, such as the designer community and the procurement sector.
Julia Cleverdon CVO, CBE, the chief executive of Business in the Community, said: "I am delighted that Beacon Press has become a member of Business in the Community.
As a company that has demonstrated a continued commitment to corporate responsibility, I am sure Beacon Press will become a valuable addition to the movement." Richard Osborne, managing director of Beacon Press, commented: "We are constantly looking for new ways to lessen our impact on the environment whilst helping our customers improve their purchasing decisions.
Being a member of Business in the Community is another avenue for us to pursue those goals and share practices with other like-minded companies." BITC's main purpose is to inspire, engage, support and challenge companies to continually improve their impact on society.
