Group's Environmental Belief Wins
Queen's Award
Pureprint Group, which includes Beacon Press, has been awarded The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the UK within the sustainable development category, for its Pureprint environmental printing system.
The Queen's Awards Office's summary of the Pureprint Group, cited: "Pureprint Group Limited receives the Award for its excellent approach to continuous achievement in delivering exemplary sustainable management The company is leading the industry in promoting sustainable printing and reducing environmental impact in all areas of the printing process, reducing energy and carbon consumption, minimising use of harmful chemicals, sourcing paper from sustainable forests and operating a high level of production waste recycling." The citation said that what was particularly commendable was the ways in which the group has demonstrated strong links between environmental sustainability and the marketability and financial success of its products.
It continued: "The Pureprint Group has shown innovation and commitment to all areas of sustainability in terms of its own business activity, as well as proactively engaging stakeholders to promote sustainability throughout the supply chain and providing a laudable example for the industry." The award submission featured the results of a staff and customer survey that revealed that 43 per cent of staff had been attracted to the company by its sustainability work, 68 per cent of staff said that working for Pureprint Group had positively influenced their approach to the environment, whilst 65 per cent of customers said their buying decisions were highly influenced by the company's sustainability credentials.
The survey also revealed that there was a 93 per cent likelihood of a customer recommending Pureprint Group and Beacon Press to a peer.

Since our first award in 2003 the business has trebled in size and we are now able to offer the highest standards of environmental printing not as a niche product but as a mainstream, affordable business choice.
The biggest corporate marketing and reporting campaigns can now be produced on budget and with significantly reduced environmental impact.".
