UK paper merchant Beswick Paper is now the exclusive UK stockist of Triple Green, a new eco-friendly coated art paper from Sappi, containing 60 per cent bagasse (sugar cane fibre).

Beswick Paper added that by using bagasse, which is the dry fibrous biomass left after sugar cane stalks have been pulped, in its production, Triple Green requires less energy to have its fibres refined so that the paper is more biodegradable and easier to recycle.
Sugar cane regenerates annually removing comparatively more CO2 from the atmosphere during its life cycle than trees.
In addition, less bleaching chemicals are required in the refining of bagasse, due to its low lignin content, which means less bleaching is needed to achieve the paper's desired whiteness than if pulp extracted from trees had been used.
The company added that with Triple Green being produced in close proximity to the sugar cane fields, the need for transporting the fibre over long distances is also reduced.
With Triple Green, the wood pulp used in its production is also Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certified.
Triple Green is available either ream wrapped, or bulk packed packs, in sizes SRA2 and SRA1 and in weights 115gsm, 135gsm, 150gsm, 170gsm, 250gsm and 300gsm.
