Beswick's Deal Forms Largest UK Paper
Merchant
Beswick Paper is to acquire Premier Paper from Antalis to form what is claimed will be the largest independent national paper merchant in the UK.
The new company that will emerge from Beswick's purchase of Premier Paper will have an annual turnover of GBP200 million, according to Beswick The company expects the deal, will be completed by the end of this month, subject to approval from the European Commission
Beswick sells mainly from local stocks, whilst Premier's strength is said to be in direct sales of sheets and reels, as well as specialist products.
Beswick commented that it believes that the new group will provide a real alternative to the pan-European groups currently operating in the UK market.
