BASF introduces nyloprint D, nyloflex FE and nyloflex AFC Printing plates for letterpress and flexo printing.

BASF's Nyloprint D is a new digital plate for letterpress printing The range of printing plates includes the entry into digital letterpress printing plates as well as two(nyloflex FE and nyloflex AFC) new types of flexo printing plates

This new development now allows the direct transfer of data to the printing plate without the intermediate step via a film negative, even in letterpress printing, for instance.

For the digital transfer of information, the plates are equipped with a black mask layer into which the information is transferred by means of a laser beam.

The digital printing plates are available on polyester and steel bases.

Besides the electronic transfer of printing data, this process also offers a significant gain in time. The new nyloprint D as a digital printing plate generation is based on the proven, conventional printing plate range and presently comprises two types of printing plates which cover the demands in tube, cup and can printing as well as in label printing.

With the nyloflex FE, BASF Printing Systems has brought a new plate for preprinting a white background for flexo packagings to market maturity.

It is resistant to the ethyl acetate (ester) and spirits contained in the two-component inks for preprinting a white background.

With the nyloflex FE, an even, good area coverage is achieved.

There are no register problems like those occurring with the use of rubber printing plates.

Motifs suited for printing are solids, text and lines as well as halftone jobs.

The plate can be processed in all systems presently offered on the market.

Besides flexo platemaking by means of conventional film negatives, which has been a proven process for decades, so-called calibrated film negatives have been used.

They enable to a print result at a quality level similar to that with digitally made printing plates.

Flexocal from Artwork Systems is such a film calibration process.

BASF Printing Systems has now developed a new printing plate which not only enables optimal results in the application of FlexoCal, but also when used with other calibration tools ? the new nyloflex AFC.

AFC stands for 'ACE FlexoCal', it combines the benefits of the nyloflex ACE with the FlexoCal calibration technology.
