The acquisition of BASF Printing Systems by funds of the European private equity firm CVC Capital Partners (CVC) has been concluded.

The closure of CVC's acquisition of the pigment production of BASF Colorants and Chemicals Co.

in Shanghai (China) is expected in 2005.

CVC's acquisition of the Swedish printing inks manufacturer ANI Printing Inks has also been closed and because the transaction has been approved by the regulatory authorities, the the merger of BASF Printing Systems and ANI Printing Inks can now begin said CVC.

Teams with employees of both companies have started their activities to initiate the integration process with immediate effect.

Simultaneously the process of finding a new name for the combined company has been started with the intention of announcing the new name and organisation as soon as possible.

The new group develops, produces and markets printing inks, printing plates, pigments and resins for the graphics and packaging industry.

The company has 65 fully owned subsidiaries in 30 countries and a network of distributors covering another 50 countries.

The group, that will be have its headquarters in Stuttgart (Germany), employs 3,600 people worldwide and had sales in 2003 of 854 million Euros.
