Xsys said that label converters from all over the world are invited to submit sample labels of their choice for evaluation by a panel of industry judges.
Judging criteria include registration, smoothness of dot and vignette, overall print quality and the degree of difficulty.
Entries will be judged in categories relating to technology used and end-use application.
Eleven companies won a total of 14 prizes last year, which were awarded at Labelexpo 2006 in Chicago (USA).
Categories included water-based flexo, UV flexo, combination printing, specialty printing and UV flexo for shrink sleeves.
Award winners included McDowell Label and Screen Printing, Smyth Companies, Labels West, Steinhauser, Nosco, Advanced Label, WS Packaging, Prakolar, Adhepel Etiquetas, Kromos Producoes Grafica, and Kontur Printing House.
Xsys said that each entry must be printed using inks from XSYS Print Solutions and that they can be a commercial label, or a promotional label.
They can be submitted in roll or sheet form and no less than 100 of each label entry must be supplied (converters will be contacted to verify if rolls can be displayed on the XSYS stand at Labelexpo).
The company added that entries should be received no later than August 10 and that they should be provided direct to XSYS Print Solutions.
