Digital Print World (DPW) will see the launch of the British Printing Industries Federation's (BPIF) new commercial law service, Legal Plus.

Digital Print World (DPW) will see the launch of the British Printing Industries Federation's (BPIF) new commercial law service, Legal Plus, which the BPIF said complements its existing expertise in employment law.

An additional annual subscription will give BPIF platinum members access to services and advice relating to subjects as varied as limitation of liability in contracts, protecting confidential information, restrictive covenants, negligence, responding to invitations to tender, rejection of products by customers, breach of contract by carriers and intellectual property rights, amongst other subjects.

Head of legal at the BPIF, Anne Coply, said: "The 'ticking clock' fee structure of most law firms discourages many people from taking professional legal advice.

The result is often a considerable waste of time and money, which an informed opinion could have avoided.

This service benefits BPIF members and, for three days only at DPW, non-members will be able to sample the service." She continued: "The point of Legal Plus is to ensure that members become used to dealing with our legal department as a matter of course.

As part of the BPIF's drive for quality control, we want our members to have at their fingertips the best legal advice there is at an affordable price.

A 'pay as you go' system, by its very nature, would restrict members from accessing the legal department, because they know every call will cost.

Under Legal Plus, people will be free to contact us as often as they like at no extra charge." At DPW, on-stand discounts will be offered to BPIF platinum members signing up for Legal Plus during the show.

In the past two months, the BPIF legal department has doubled its capacity and welcomed two new employees.

Nicola Langley, a commercial solicitor and Michelle Leney, an administrator, who join Anne Copley and trainee solicitor Carole Banwell bringing the BPIF legal team to four.

The DPW Legal Clinic at DPW is part of IIR's plan to expand the educational opportunities at the show, which is packed with a variety of seminars, master classes and discussion groups.

Richard Gayle, the event manager for Digital Print World, said: "We are really pleased that the BPIF is bringing its specialist knowledge to DPW.

Visitors coming to this year's show are guaranteed to leave with not only updates on the latest digital technology but also increased market knowledge and practical business advice.

The interactive formula, which was so successful last year, is again proving to draw in visitors this year with impressive registration figures already." DPW is also supported by other key industry bodies and associations including Pira, BAPC and LCC, all of which will be present at the show providing advice to visitors on all aspects of digital printing and business.
