BPIF Scholarships Offer GBP2,500 Prizes

Twelve awards each worth GBP2,500 are available from the British Printing Industries Federation's (BPIF) educational scholarships.

Said to be designed to assist young people in funding education and training in preparation for a career in the UK printing and graphic arts industries, the BPIF scholarship scheme is open to all young people aged 16 - 30 years-old who are resident in the UK Winners in the past four years have included students on established printing and print management courses, graphic design students, employees of family-owned print businesses, pre-press specialists, pressroom managers and operators, PhD students and technicians from the consumables sector and publishing print production staff have also featured in the past

Winners have previously chosen to spend their award money in a variety of ways, including course fees, travel costs for study tours, books, computers and software.

Entries for this year close on March 31 2008 with initial judging to take place in April, with interviews for short-listed candidates to be held next May.

The awards presentation will take place in June 2008.

Michael Johnson, the BPIF's chief executive, said : "The BPIF is more that happy to continue to support the scholarships in to the fifth year.

I have met many of the previous recipients and I have been totally amazed and heartened at the talent that is making its way in our industry.

As I said at last year's presentations, our industry is in the safe hands of the younger generation.

Now let's find some more talent for 2008." Applications for the awards should be made in writing on official application forms and a shortlist of entrants will then invited for interview.
