A Bobst SA product story

Bobst in the UK has clinched sales of five Alpina II folder gluer lines in the last five weeks.

Bobst in the UK has clinched sales of five Alpina II folder gluer lines in the last five weeks.

The folder-gluer lines are destined for four different folding carton manufacturers and each of the machines will be delivered and commissioned before Christmas.

Bobst has also agreed the sale of a Mistral folder-gluer to a print finishing company.

Lee Alton, product manager for Bobst folder-gluers in the UK and Ireland, said: "This reinforces how well thought of the Alpina II is within the industry.

But just because Bobst is the market leader doesn't mean we get a free ride and, quite frankly, that's exactly how it should be.

Customers look very closely these days at how a supplier will meet their specific requirements.

By that I mean not just the gluer and peripherals, but also things like the availability of service, spare parts and training." He said that the four customers who have ordered Alpina's have carried out detailed comparisons of the Bobst range with the other gluers available and have chosen the Alpina II because it is the best machine for folding carton applications and because they know they will get the back-up they require.

The Alpina II versions ordered range from straight-line to multi-purpose systems and most include either a Bobst easyfeeder pre-feeder or Cartonpack GT automatic packer, or both.

The majority of the lines have been specified with integrated gluing, or quality control systems from HHS Gluing Systems.

Alton explained: "It's all about optimising every stage of the process.

That means having quick set-up, the most efficient feeding, highly accurate folding and gluing, good QA and topping it off with packing that can keep up with the speed of the line.

The Alpina II and its peripherals offer all of that.".
