Large Format Diecutter Reduces Production Stoppage

A Bobst SA product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 21, 2007

One of Bobst's SPeria 142-E diecutters has been bought by Offset Productions following the installation of an Asitrade Foliostar sheet-to-sheet laminator.

The line is the third element of the Offset Productions' planned GBP3 million investment programme.

The SPeria 142-E features a Feeder Plus system, which controls the height of the front of the pile, automatically adjusts the position of the press foot relative to any warp in the pile and corrects the pile position laterally and horizontally.

The combined action of the system is said to ensure the regularity and alignment of the in-fed sheets, reducing the number of stops in production.

Offset Productions' managing director, Hugh Jarvis, said: "Having ordered a KBA Rapida 142 press and a 1,650mm wide Asitrade Foliostar sheet-to-sheet laminator for the programme, we needed a large format diecutter to match.

He explained: "Two years ago we installed a Bobst SPanthera 106-LE for our carton and greetings card work and we have been very pleased with it.

The increase in performance over our previous equipment was huge, so when it came to a decision for our large format diecutter we didn't hesitate to go with Bobst.

Stuart Taylor, product manager for Bobst diecutters in the UK and Ireland, said: "The SPeria handles paper and solid board, as well as the litho-laminated board that will make up the bulk of its production at OPL.

It's the ideal production tool for this type of work because of its optimised sheet transfer, its feeder plus system and the rigidity of the machine architecture.

Bobst and Asitrade are part of Bobst Group.
