Visioncut system satisfies die-cutter demand

Tyne Tees Packaging has taken delivery of a second Bobst Visioncut die-cutter to satisfy continuing growth in demand for its die-cut corrugated products.

Gerard Wiper, managing director of Tyne Tees Packaging, said: 'In the three years since we bought our first Bobst die-cutter we have grown the market for our die-cut products to such an extent that we now need a second machine.

'Just as we started to think about buying a new machine, Bobst launched its Visioncut, which was great timing for us as it is even more productive than our first Bobst machine,' he added.

Bobst said that the Visioncut has an increased running speed of 4,800 sheets per hour compared to its predecessor, the SPO160-Vision, while enhanced ergonomics make it possible to change jobs in less than 10 minutes.

'Make-ready times are vitally important in our market, so the fact that the Visioncut can change from job to job so quickly is a real bonus,' said Wiper.

'It means we will more than double our die-cutting capacity once it is in full production in a week's time,' he added.

A further factor in the choice of a Visioncut was the training and after-sales support Tyne Tees Packaging received following its first Bobst machine installation.

'We know that by making the most of the technicians and trainers Bobst provide we will be able to maximise the production from the Visioncut,' explained Wiper.

'That means reducing every make-ready to its absolute minimum and running every job at, or very near to, full running speed,' he added.

The materials that can be converted by the Visioncut include litho-laminates, microflute and corrugated, up to double-wall corrugated (0.75mm to 9mm).

The maximum sheet format is 1,600mm x 1,100mm.

Tyne Tees Packaging has chosen the bundle delivery version of the Visioncut, but it is available in an alternative pile delivery version.

The pile delivery version is said to be suitable for users who want to form a pile directly inside the delivery station and so save on floor space.
