New finishing equipment to help meet carton demand
Kingston Carton has taken delivery of two new Bobst lines to meet growing demand.
Arend Buitendam, managing director of Kingston Carton, said: 'Despite the downturn in the economy we have been busier than ever.
Demand has been so strong that we need to expand our capacity in both diecutting and gluing to keep pace with it.
The new Bobst in each area will replace existing equipment and bring us the productivity benefits of the latest technology.
We have grown our business by building solid relationships with our customers and by re-investing profits to fund expansion.
The new Bobst machines will give us the increased capacity we need to continue delivering the service levels our customers expect from us.
The new Bobst lines are a Visioncut 106 LE diecutter and an Expertfold 110 A2 folder-gluer.
They join a machine park which includes converting equipment predominantly supplied by Bobst.
Arend Buitendam added: 'We have been delighted with previous Bobst equipment and with the level of backup we receive from their UK operation.
Once a machine is installed they don't just walk away and leave you to get on with it, like some suppliers, instead they come back regularly to advise us and to help our staff keep up to date on all the latest developments in each field.
That's important to us because keeping our staff highly trained is one of the keys to our business.
The Visioncut 106 LE is a size 3b diecutter (ISO: size B1) featuring Bobst's optical lateral register system.
The system uses camera technology to register the sheet edge, or the print itself, to the diecutting tools, so reducing stops in production and maintaining diecutting quality regardless of variations in the substrate or print.
The Visioncut also features Bobst's Quick Change concept for job change-overs, and a Cube3 touch screen control system for easier operator control.
The Expertfold folder-gluer is a 110 A2 version for straightline, crashlock and four and six-corner carton production.
The machine can run at speeds of up to 450 metres per minute and its improved back hook system means faster running of four and six corner boxes.
Expertfold features Bobst's patented blank aligner for set-up with zero waste, and Bobst's patented flipper ejector for maintaining product integrity and quality at full running speed.
The Cube3 touch screen control system on the machine is said to provide easier operator control as well as benefits, such as the off-machine backup of box settings.
The line has been supplied with a Baumer HHS code reading and glue line detection system.
