Bowe Bell and Howell has become a distributor of CDP Communications' Streamdiff print stream comparison tool The Streamdiff is claimed to enable companies to automate the testing of AFP, Metacode and Postscript print streams and PDF files

Bowe Bell and Howell said that its customers can use Streamdiff to test for unexpected changes that occur when minor changes such as font, image and graphics alterations are made to existing documents.

The system ensures that there are no unexpected differences between the penultimate and final versions of the document, said the company.

Bowe Bell + Howell's business manger, Sarah Elliott, explained: "When adding new information to existing documents, our clients undergo the time-consuming and resource-consuming process of manually comparing print streams to ensure that their documents have not changed unexpectedly.

With Streamdiff, our clients can automate this process, thereby significantly reducing the document testing cycle, decreasing time to market and lowering their overall production costs." Streamdiff is said to provide a detailed, side-by-side comparison of two print streams, indicating the precise location of the items that were changed.

Drop-down tools simplify acceptance of changes and an audit file tracks all modifications.

A batch process lets users run multiple print data stream comparisons overnight, added the company.
