In order to help print companies to increase their business efficiency and profitability, the BAPC has announced a free advice initiative.

In order to help print companies to increase their business efficiency and profitability, the BAPC has announced a free advice initiative.

Printers will now be able to benefit from free professional advice on all aspects of their business from profit margins and productivity to people management, effective marketing and customer relations, said the BAPC.

The initiative has been made possible by European-backed funding from the Learning Skills Council and has been launched in the West Midlands area of the UK.

All print-related print companies in the area are being contacted and given the opportunity to consult with fully trained BAPC business advice consultants.

An action plan to improve key areas of each business will then be drawn up, with experts relevant to those areas brought in to provide solutions - at no cost to the companies.

"The idea behind this initiative is to increase the power of the print industry by making it commercially stronger in all areas of business.

By enabling this at no cost to individual companies, the BAPC can really help the industry to help itself," said BAPC chairman Sidney Bobb.

If the West Midlands testing ground proves successful, the BAPC believes it will have a strong case to help the initiative extend throughout the UK.

"Our ultimate aim for print is to improve local knowledge and increase its national profile.

This is our latest industry-wide initiative but we already offer our members a huge range of free and subsidised business services for only ?1 a week," continued Bobb.
