Membership of the British Association for Print and Communication (BAPC) has grown for the eighth successive year.

Membership of the British Association for Print and Communication (BAPC) has grown for the eighth successive year.

The news was revealed at the BAPC's annual general meeting, when chairman Sidney Bobb reported that despite, or perhaps as a result of, the difficulties being experienced during 2003, membership again increased which, in his opinion, was a remarkable compliment to the BAPC's national council which plans and implements the facilities of the association.

In addition it was reported that the usage of the services of the BAPC had never been higher, with members taking advantage of the free legal advisory service, mentoring facilities, H R helpline and marketing support, which were all heavily utilised.

The Association's initiative in the UK's west midlands area whereby the BAPC provides free help and assistance is growing in popularity with currently around 60 businesses taking advantage of the facility.

Commenting on membership activities Tony Honnor, association director said: "The state of the market place encouraged our members to make greater use of the benefits afforded by membership and whilst this increased the pressure on council and myself it is the reason why the BAPC exists.

Helping members survive and succeed is what it is all about and from the feedback we receive we seem to be on the right track." During the meeting the BAPC treasurer, Chris Spearing, told members that the BAPC was in a healthy financial position and he recommended that the current annual membership fee of £50 remained as it was.

Due to outside factors, Spearing relinquished the post of treasurer and has been replaced by Bernard Ryan.

In addition Gordon Hill and Tony Hodgson also stepped down and have been replaced by Simon Brookman and Keith Darcy Ryan.

The chairman, Sidney Bobb and deputy chairman, Freddie Kienzler were unanimously re-elected.
