Increased business and new customers have prompted mailing and fulfilment systems manufacturer Buhrs to begin expanding operations.

The development comes one year after opening its UK subsidiary following the company's acquisition of its UK distributor, Computermail Buhrs said the success of that move is reflected in the business the direct sales and service operation has secured and in the improved responsiveness of the business in enhancing customer relationships

John Ricketts, managing director of Buhrs UK, said: "The UK is one of the most important markets for Buhrs and we have a large established customer base here already, including Communisis, Polestar, St Ives, Real Digital International, Howitt, Pensord and Formpro Mail Marketing." Buhrs UK has won new contracts worth GBP3 million from new and existing customers and has taken on five new members of staff.

It is also anticipating an office move to new premises in Basingstoke this autumn.

Ricketts added: "Buhrs systems are not only the most robust and reliable on the market, they are also more flexible due to advanced servo technology.

Customers can change between jobs quickly, for instance swapping between a C4 and C5 envelope application can take less than 15 minutes.

Whilst many installations are reliant on total mechanical changes to move between jobs, our programmable servo drives deliver complex jobs faster and more efficiently.".
