Poly-Wrap Improves Profits At Mail And Print Firm

A Buhrs Group product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Oct 22, 2007

Two Buhrs 4000 poly-wrapping lines have replaced five Sitma machines to achieve greater effeciency, open new business opportunities and improve profitability at Formpro MM.

Buhrs said its systems were chosen following a market evaluation by Formpro MM, an independent UK mailing and print provider, because it was looking for robust and reliable equipment that is easy to operate and quick to set up.

Servicing was also very important.

The new lines were installed last May are said to be providing between two and three times the productivity of the Sitma machines.

As part of the contract, Buhrs refurbished three existing MTR poly-wrapping lines and arranged disposal of the old Sitma machines.

The new lines have integrated camera technology for product picking and automated mail sortation, wrapping and strapping.

Buhrs, Domino and Lake Imaging have provided an integrated system for the automation of bundling and bag label printing, which is a key feature that removes end of line bottle necks.

Mike Hughes, strategic development director, at Formpro MM, commented: "We're delighted with our decision.

In fact Buhrs has worked together with us to turn around the fortunes of the company's polywrapping division in Swindon.

Not only have we shored up existing business but we're now able to address more complex customer requirements and have taken on new jobs as a direct result." Six crews were trained by Buhrs, which also provided a on-site demonstrator for four weeks.

Now, six months on, Buhrs is working with Formpro MM to refine and improve performance even further.

John Ricketts, Buhrs UK managing director, added: "The Buhrs 4000 is an innovative, high-quality film and paper wrapping system.

It's not just more flexible and safer, it is also characterised by its reduced set-up times and maintenance.

As a result, the system offers more productivity than any other system on the market.".
