The new PDFToolbox 4 upgrade to Callas's print production toolset will be seen for the first time at the Drupa Innovation Parc, in hall 7 - stand 7.0.

Callas Software said that PDFToolbox 4 is set to change job preparation in Acrobat because, whilst other systems take a more interactive approach, PDFToolbox 4 will execute common tasks or prepare files for a certain type of production with the single touch of a button.

As the engine that drives preflighting in Adobe Acrobat, the Callas PDF library has proven its technological strengths, added the company.

In PDFToolbox 4 the library has been updated, offering productivity and feature improvements and it also supports all the latest ISO standards, such as PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-4p standard, as well as the latest versions of PDF/A and PDF/E.

According to Callas, PDFToolbox 4 offers more than just PDF quality control.

With its new imposition features it is an all-in-one print production toolset that will provide preparation for finishing, such as booklet creation, N-up or double burn.

In addition, language or regional versions of existing PDFs can also be created with the new versioning feature.

The company added that PDFToolbox 4 features a revamped user-interface that will guide users to the functions they need.

Whilst other systems may offer colour conversion or content manipulation as well, with PDFToolbox 4 users can perform tasks faster.

Ghent PDF Workgroup-compliant PDFs, ready for print, can be produced and as well as features for conventional pre-press needs, with PDFToolbox 4 it is claimed that non-expert users will be able to create self-running presentations, or create handouts from PDF slides.

At Drupa 2008, Callas will also show how to gain productivity through automation.

The company's PDFToolbox Server is claimed to provide a way to automate PDF workflows, with users able to pre-flight and fix large volumes of PDF files with the same technology used by Adobe Acrobat.

Callas claimed that the automated process will provide identical results as when an individual operator is checking the file manually.

Callas's PDFAuto Optimiser, which can also be seen at Drupa, is said to handle automated transparencies flattening, making it a companion to PDFToolbox Server for hands-off preparation of files for print.

By combining PDFToolbox and PDFAuto Optimiser users will be able to fully and automatically make jobs ready for output on any equipment and re-purpose files for different media.
