Thanks to a three year programme of investment, Cambrian Printers in Wales has experienced a continuous increase in turnover and a subsequent increase in employee numbers.

This week Cambrian Printers also appointed its 100th employee as Shayne Taylor has joined the printing company as business development executive.

She was previously with Warners of Lincolnshire.

Increasing employee numbers was a target set as part of the GBP5 million, Regional Selective Assistance three year investment programme the company received.

It is the first time since the company sold its newspaper printing arm, Cambrian News, in 1998 that the company workforce has reached a the current level.

Cambrian Printers' Robert Read, said: "As part of our long-term business strategy we've invested heavily in new technology, which has placed us at the forefront of the British printing industry.

Together with our commitment to staff training and development we've been able to retain our staff levels and increase the number of people on our payroll in order to meet the growing demands on our business.

We're delighted that we've been able to reach the target of 100 staff and look forward to sustaining our current levels of business development and increasing our turnover year on year." He explained: "Being in rural Wales seems to attract staff from far and wide and we're very pleased that Shayne has been able to join us.

Being a family-owned business, we pride ourselves on developing staff and providing the opportunities for them to develop their careers within the company.

We're currently working with our local training provider, Coleg Ceredigion, to provide NVQ level four training that will help retain and attract staff in the future." Shayne Taylor commented: "I was initially attracted to Cambrian as I'd become increasingly aware of the company's presence as a pacesetter in the industry.

I'm also very pleased to be working for a company that considers its commitment to the environment very seriously, recognising that sustainable measures benefits the workforce in addition to the environment.

I'm really excited about developing my role at Cambrian, it's a forward thinking company based in a rural environment, therefore giving me the best of both worlds.".
