Liew told a media briefing in Kuala Lumpur that today's discerning consumers wanted to purchase their digital cameras and printers at one location and to obtain support or solutions quickly.
"For Canon, this new structure allows better cohesion and higher impact in our marketing plans and activities," he said, adding that CII would emerge as a one-stop solution for digital imaging needs.
He said the new structure would promote greater synergy and consumer convenience would be enhanced by the existing combined distribution and retail network of camera and information technology channels.
"We expect our digital camera market share to increase to 30% next year (from 23% now) because of the integration," Liew said, adding that the company had also produced a digital camera which could be connected to a personal computer or Canon printer to produce colour pictures.
