Canon Europe said that it has made two key appointments to further strengthen its commitment to the professional print market To be based at Canon Europe's strategic headquarters in the UK, Per Klavsen leaves his role as the company's marketing director for European professional solutions to become European corporate and international channel director

David Preskett replaces him to become marketing director.

The company believes that the new appointments will ensure Canon continues to grow and maintain a strong position in professional printing.

Klavsen, who brings to the role his in-depth experience of the professional print industry, will have responsibility for channel sales across Europe and internationally, with the specific remit of developing Canon's overall channel presence for not only its office product base but also the growth of it s professional solutions portfolio.

Prior to Canon, Klavsen has held positions at Agfa, Nexpress and EFI and brings to his new role a strong track record in sales, marketing and management throughout Europe.

Preskett, who joined Canon Europe from Agfa in January 2005 to manage marketing activity for colour and mono production printers, will have overall responsibility for all areas of professional print marketing and business development, which includes light-volume, mid-volume and high-volume printers, as well as Canon's increasing systems portfolio and the large format product range.

He will also lead key professional print initiatives across sales and service.

With more than 12 years' experience in the industry, Preskett has also held senior positions at Agfa, in UK, European and global sales and marketing roles in the pre-press and large format arenas.

Commenting on the promotions, Taz Nakamasu, Canon's European marketing director, said: "Both David and Per's experience, enthusiasm and contribution to date proves their ability to rise to the challenge of taking Canon Europe to new levels and will be invaluable to our future success.

Both have been instrumental in the growth of our professional print division within Europe and I look forward to seeing the continuing success of the professional team in the future." Commenting on his appointment, David Preskett said: "Canon has some of the best and most experienced executives throughout Europe, and I aim to use this resource to support our customers in growing their businesses, as well as build on Canon's current success to drive growth and expansion in the competitive professional print market." Canon said that it will launch new professional printing products and systems, including the Imagepress printers at Ipex on stand C50 in hall 6.
