Canon UK is bringing art to life this week with the Scottish Widows calendar exhibition, shot by Scottish photographer David Boni.

The collection of images, on display in London, were all taken using the Canon EOS1Ds Mark II professional camera and the exhibition prints were created using the latest large-format printer from Canon, the Imageprograf iPF8000.

The iPF8000 large format printer yet from Canon, is said to be the company's most advanced system yet.

David Boni said: "Image quality is absolutely critical when you reproduce photographic images for an exhibition.

The images feature the widow, appearing strong and in control - in juxtaposition to her wild, atmospheric surroundings.

We decided to use the Imageprograf iPF8000 as it has the incredibly high levels of definition needed to convey the mood of each image." Anne Sharp, LFP product marketing manager at Canon UK, said: "The Imageprograf iPF8000 uses the latest technology to provide exceptionally high levels of detail and accuracy in photographic prints and we're delighted that David Boni and Scottish Widows chose this printer to bring the breathtaking images to life.

We designed this model using our 12-colour Lucia pigment ink system for exactly these sorts of demanding scenarios and the final prints for the exhibition clearly show that it was up to the challenge." The 2007 calendar features Hayley Hunt as the 'Scottish Widow' pictured in a variety of remote locations around Scotland.

The exhibition of the calendar images began January 24 and will run for one week, at the Association of Photographers' Gallery, Leonard Street in London.
