Canon UK achieved 127 per cent sales growth in the large format printing market during 2006, thanks to an unprecedented six product launches during the period Canon said that its market share nearly trebled from 5.7 per cent in 2005 to an estimated 13 per cent - 15 per cent for 2006

Canon UK, LFP product marketing manager, Anne Sharp, said: "Canon's commitment to deliver high-quality systems to the LFP sector enabled us to record a three-digit increase in sales last year and nearly treble our share of the market.

Last year we drove the LFP sector forward with the launch of six new LFP products, a record for Canon, and we continue to invest in our portfolio, which should be expanded even further this year." The company added that it is also looking set for stronger growth in 2007 thanks to a new pricing strategy for its customers with discounts of up to 33 per cent on the original priceof equipment.

Canon's Imageprograf IPF8000, 44-inch LFP has been reduced in price, whilst the Imageprograf IPF700 36-inch printer's price has similarly been cut, together with that of the Imageprograf IPF600, 24-inch printer by 33 per cent.

Canon said that its announcement is the latest in a raft of incentives it has created to help drive the modernisation of the LFP market and ensure the best deals for its customers.

Anne Sharp added: "The large format printing market is rapidly expanding and having access to the latest equipment is something that research has taught us our customers demand.

We will continue to offer the best value for money and help encourage the growth of the market as a whole.".
