A Canon Europe product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 6, 2007

Canon UK has launched a new large-format poster creation software, PosterArtist 2007, which allows anyone to create professional looking, quality posters by following four easy steps

Canon's new poster creation software, PosterArtist 2007, allows anyone to create professional designs in-house Four tab-guided steps to create professional posters, notices and signs in-house Large selection of artwork and templates for the retail, hotel, manufacturing, restaurant, education and office sectors Produce large-format copies from Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint REIGATE, July 5, 2007 - The software includes a large selection of artwork templates and clip arts, and features user-friendly edit functions.

PosterArtist 2007, which is ideal for the retail, restaurant, education, hotel, manufacturing and general office sectors, allows businesses, schools and even individuals to design and produce professional looking posters in-house.

AutoDesign has been added to PosterArtist 2007.

The software offers poster design templates, fonts, clip art and high resolution, royalty free images, which can be combined and edited via easy to use drop down menus.

Even with limited experience of designing, anyone can make a high-grade poster with an appropriate colour scheme and layout, which can be used for internal display or marketing purposes.

There are four easy to follow steps to create a poster with PosterArtist 2007.

Users first choose from 250 in-built poster templates from a drop-down menu, select the paper type and size required, import the image artwork and then edit the text.

PosterArtist 2007 also allows users to produce large-format prints from popular Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

PosterArtist 2007 is aimed at the large-format, general use sector for use in the design of posters, banners and signage, for output on the imagePROGRAF family of large-format printers.

Anne Sharp, product marketing manager LFP, Canon UK said: "We are very excited about the prospect of offering this software to support our large-format customers".

"PosterArtist 2007 is an example of how Canon is bringing innovative products to the industry".

"It gives a range of organisations the ability to produce high quality, professional looking posters, signs and notices in-house".

"For example, schools can use PosterArtist to brighten up classrooms with posters that support learning, research presentations, teaching schedules and maps, while retailers can use it to promote special offers and value-added services - all with the latest information".

"The range of posters that can be produced is virtually limitless".

"Also, the ability to output large-format posters from Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and PowerPoint, will give many businesses a new dimension to presentations".

The software also has an ambient light-adjustment function, based upon Kyuanos, Canon's next generation colour management technology.

The ambient light-adjustment function minimises differences in the way colours appear due to the lighting conditions in which posters and signs are displayed.

During the printing stage, the ambient light-adjustment function takes into consideration the lighting conditions in which the poster will be viewed and adjusts the print accordingly.

If the designer knows that a poster looks reddish under incandescent lighting, or will appear blue under fluorescent light, then this advanced colour management technology will compensate for that at the printing stage.

PosterArtist 2007 has a number of other innovative features:.

- Design Check, which provides design advice during poster creation.

- User-friendly poster editing functions.

- The ability to load Adobe Illustrator files with SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format PosterArtist 2007 will be available in the UK from July priced at GBP 425.
