Canon Large Format Printers Double Market Share

A Canon Europe product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Oct 8, 2007

Canon UK has claimed that it has achieved second place for sales in the aqueous large format printer (LFP) market for the first half of 2007.

That is according to independent sales figures from industry analyst Infosource.

The company said Canon has almost doubled its market share to 18.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.

According to Canon, the statistics from Infosource illustrate Canon's claimed dominance in the A2, 36-inch - 41-inch and 60-inch - 71-inch product sectors.

In the A2 market, the Imageprograf iPF500 has the largest share with 28.7 per cent, whilst the Imageprograf iPF700 maintains top position in the 36'-inch - 41-inch market with 29.4 per cent share.

In the 60-inch - 71-inch sector the Imageprograf iPF9000 leads the field with 37.6 per cent of unit sales.

Canon Business Solutions' head of professional product, Ben Milford, said: "Over the last year Canon has invested significantly in its LFP portfolio.

To move up to second for overall sales, in what is a pretty static market, is a major achievement and testament to that continuing investment.

In 2004, we had a market share of 2.5 per cent, which grew to 13 per cent in 2006 and with a raft of product launches due in the fourth quarter we are confident that we will improve that market share significantly during the second half of 2007." Canon will showcase its latest LFP products at this month's Digital Print World exhibition in London (UK) on stand 130.
