New Large Format Printers Fastest In Their Class

A Canon Europe product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Oct 8, 2007

Two new large format printers (LFPs) - the Imageprograf iPF710 (A0 - 36-inch) and Imageprograf iPF610 (A1 - 24-inch) - have been introduced by Canon.

Developed for the CAD, GIS (geographic imaging systems) and general large format sectors, the LFPs are claimed to be the fastest in their class for those markets.

The Imageprograf iPF610 is claimed to be able to deliver a full-colour A1 print on plain paper in fast mode in 33 seconds, whilst the Imageprograf iPF710 can produce an A0-sized output in 56 seconds.

Both machines have HP-GL/2 and RTL compatibility, as well as a HDI driver, which means that they are compatible with applications implemented by GIS and CAD users.

Additionally the new LFPs come with Canon's newly-launched printhead warranty.

Valid for one year, the warranty means that in the eventuality that anything should go wrong with a Canon printhead, customers are guaranteed a replacement, added the company.

The Imageprograf iPF710 and iPF610 have Canon's FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) printheads, which are said to be capable of creating ink droplets as small as four picolitres in size.

With 15,000 nozzles, the Canon printhead is also said to ensure accuracy and image sharpness with a resolution of 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) that allows users to reproduce fine lines and small characters without distortion.

The new LFPs also incorporate Canon's LCOA image processor, which the company said enables faster and more accurate image processing.

Additionally, the Imageprograf iPF710 and iPF610 include Canon's five-colour reactive ink system that prevents bleeding and ensures solid image consistency and quieter operation to ensure reduced noise levels.

The Imageprograf iPF710 and iPF610 replace the Imageprograf iPF700 and iPF600, with the iPF700 now available, whilst the iPF600 will be available from next month.

Ben Milford, Head of professional print marketing for Canon Business Solutions at Canon UK, said: "The launch of these two LFPs means that we can increase market share in the UK CAD and GIS markets.

We now have products that are not only the fastest in their class, but are also compatible with industry standards and come with a range of features to create image quality that is second to none.

By providing leading systems, we have been able to nearly double our market share in the LFP sector during the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2006.".
