Paper merchant The Paper Company has joined Canon's partner programme as it enters the aqueous large format printer (LFP) market.

The Paper Company (Paperco) will sell the Imageprograf range of Canon LFPs and substrates, of which there are 40 in a variety of sizes and thicknesses and which include glossy and satin papers, roll-up films, backlit films, textiles, art canvas, vinyl and proofing paper Canon will work with Paperco to provide full training and support for its staff to ensure sales teams fully understand the capabilities of the LFP models, as well as the market opportunities in all sectors

Canon has also installed an Imageprograf device in every Paperco outlet to help with the training programme.

The addition of large format printers to the Paperco portfolio is a natural step as it looks to capitalise on customer relationships developed through years of paper and substrates sales, whilst expanding its business through hardware sales, added Canon.

With nine local and specialist operating divisions trading through 28 sales and distribution centres throughout the UK, Paperco said it supplies the printing, publishing, sign and display, packaging and stationery industries and has a growing presence in the public and private sectors.

As part of the company's long-term strategy to further develop its operations, Paperco required LFP technology that would cost-effectively provide quality and speed for its customers.

Canon said that its 12 colour Imageprograf models were the natural choice for Paperco as they are designed to provide image quality at speed, catering for sectors that include graphic arts, photography, CAD/GIS and general use.

The LFPs use aqueous technology and are said to have low levels of ink consumption, helping users to reduce costs.

Phil Tomlinson, the digital and technical manager at Paperco, said: "Our company policy is to provide our customers with the highest levels of service backed by an extensive and carefully selected product range.

As we look to expand our product range in to the aqueous LFP market, Canon is the perfect partner because of the strength of its brand.

Canon's tailored approach ensures the right product meets the needs of its customers, which is in line with our own company philosophy.

The addition of Canon media is yet another boost for our business and we are looking forward to a successful long-term relationship." Shane Burchett, LFP product professional at Canon UK, commented: "Through our partner programme, we are dedicated to ensuring that all Paperco staff are trained on our machines as we roll out the devices across the UK.

The Imageprograf range is ideally suited to Paperco and we believe that the company will have every success as these devices beautifully complement their existing and expanding media portfolio.".
