The Creo Print On-Demand (POD) Solutions Group (Creo POD Solutions) is showing on-demand, variable data printing live at Digital Print World 2005 on the Xeretec stand 340.

A unit of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, the Creo group will expand the supply of digital colour servers for digital presses to a variety of partners.

With the mandate to capitalise on the fast-growing colour server market.

The group has been structured as a stand alone unit to better serve the particular needs of multiple OEM customers.

Reflecting the theme of 'partners in performance', Creo POD Solutions Group, Xeretec, the Xerox premier partner and Morgana are printing personalised calendars live at the show with their integrated on-demand systems.

The calendar is personalised with Darwin VI authoring tool and web-to-print technology from the Creo Print On-Demand Solutions Group.

Xeretec is printing personalised calendars on the Xerox Docucolor 5252 digital colour press driven by the Creo Spire CXP5000 colour server for visitors at the show.

The calendar's finishing is done by Morgana.

The web-to-print technology uses templates and database information for efficient page composition, enabling a centrally controlled, streamlined workflow for on-demand communications.

Using that technology, companies can incorporate a design-rich and logic-based template workflow in to their internet or intranet sites, allowing their sales forces or customers to merge personalised data and create customised documents.

The template workflow also ensures full process control, design integrity, and brand protection, claimed the company.

Print providers and print buyers can create efficient, on-demand variable data printing (VDP) jobs using the web-to-print technology.

Users can also use their corporate knowledge and existing workflows because the technology integrates easily with CRM technology, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, store front applications or web-enabled systems.
