Checkprint has celebrated a treble success at the finals of the Leicestershire business awards in the UK.

The cheque printing and secure print services company was a runner-up in two categories and also missed out on winning the Leicestershire business of the year title.

It was the fifth time in six years that Checkprint was up for the honours.

"We were really hoping that this would be our year to win," said Martin Ruda, Checkprint's managing director.

"We are not too disappointed though since we know that just getting to the finals for the fifth time was a major achievement.

We are a successful, growing and innovative company so there is always next year." The Hinckley based company was shortlisted for the contribution to the community award, acknowledging the staff's support for a range of charity fund-raising, educational and environmental initiatives.

Martin Ruda was a finalist in the entrepreneur of the year award.

Making it to the runners-up position in the two categories also took the company through to the overall business of the year award - and once again it was a runner-up.

According to Ruda, No other company has matched Checkprint's success in the business awards.

It was a finalist in the success through people category in 2001, a category it went on to win the following year.

It was then a finalist in the contribution to the community section in 2003 and enterprise through innovation finalist in 2005.
