New Biodegradable Envelope Window Film
Available
A biodegradable window film for envelopes, Envirosafe, is now available from Multi-Plastics sales locations in the USA, Canada and Europe.
A woodpulp-based product, the Envirosafe film biodegrades in landfill and compost and can also be recycled together with paper and board, or burned without noxious emissions, it is claimed Production of Envirosafe has come about through arrangement between Multi-Plastics - Envirosafe's originator - and Clarifoil, the UK producer of cellulose acetate films for windows and print lamination, which has gained DIN EN 13432 and ASTM 6400 biodegradability accreditation

Recycling Guidance For Cellulose Acetate Films
Clarifoil, the makers of cellulose acetate films for carton windows and lamination, have issued a free leaflet answering frequently asked questions about recyclability.
Clarifoil said that individually, the thin film windows that are used to make business envelopes are only a small part of the refuse disposal chain.
But multiply that by the millions of window envelopes that are mailed every day, and windows made of biodegradable film could make environmental good sense.
Paul Frith, managing director of Multi-Plastics Europe, said: "At present we see Envirosafe as a niche product but it is a niche that is growing as envelope manufacturers move towards minimum waste and maximum sustainability in-line with green strategies.
As a woodpulp-based material, Envirosafe gives our customers an offering that is biodegradable and sourced from certified sustainable forestry and also provides excellent quality and technical performance." Clarifoil is produced in Britain at Spondon, near Derby, whose commercial director, Gordon Willins, said: "Multi-Plastics supplies envelope window film to over 50 per cent of envelope manufacturers in the USA and nearly 40 per cent of envelope manufacturers in Europe.
We are delighted that they have selected products from our range for the new Envirosafe envelope window film offering".
